Transmission Parts – Bell Housing

Transmissions have many tiny parts that shift your car from gear to gear, knowing how fast you need or want to go.   The inside of a transmission is a mystery to most unless you are a mechanic.  We’d like to dispel some of the mystery of the transmission by giving you some basic knowledge and facts about the parts of a transmission and how they work.  The Bell Housing derives its name from the cone shaped metal casing,  you can see this casing when you peek underneath your car.  If you have a front-wheel-drive car it’s stuck on the side of the engine under the hood. If your car is rear-wheel-drive, the transmission will be mounted underneath the car behind the engine.  This part of the transmission covers the fly-wheel and the clutch or torque converter.  Damage to your bell housing could mean morel damage to the parts inside causing further problems.  Holes in the casing may not only be caused by external sources, but may  indicate internal problems as well.  The professionals at Advanced Transmission can check your casing and all your transmission parts and provide you with a free estimate for needed servicesContact us today to set your appointment.
